Costume contests, haunted houses, candy, and spooky entertainment await you this October – some throughout the month, others on specific dates. The Wicked Cool attractions in downtown Knoxville

Until October 31st

  • The Wicked Cool event in downtown Knoxville returns just in time for the Halloween season, offering fanged fun for all ages through October 31st. This year’s Wicked Cool includes a not-so-scary scavenger hunt, spooky deals at local stores, and more. A costume contest with prizes to die for. The downtown area is decorated with seasonal decorations, creating the perfect backdrop to capture those terribly fun memories.

Boo Bash at Gatlinburg Skypark

Until October 31st

  • The Gatlinburg SkyPark offers seasonal decorations and great views of fall foliage in the Great Smoky Mountains during its family-friendly Halloween Boo Bash in October and its Fall Festival on October 27-28.
  • Enjoy fun fall activities, face painting, balloon artists, SkyPark prize packages, live music and games on the SkyDeck during Fall Festival. Visitors are invited to wear their favorite Halloween costumes to the festival.

FrightWorks Haunted House

  • Want a spooky scare this fall? Visit the FrightWorks Haunted House in Powell. This year, FrightWorks offers spooky interactive entertainment centered around Tremble Industries, a factory of fear and horror. The thematic and exciting adventure includes high-quality acting, detailed sets and elaborate special effects.

Dead Man’s Farm Haunted Attraction.

Until November 2nd

  • Dead Man’s Farm Haunted Attraction in Philadelphia, Tennessee is celebrating 16 years of fear this fall. Interactive attractions Oct. 4–Nov. 2 include the Bludgeon Haunted House, Lost Souls Haunted Trail, Bell Witch Escape, Zombie Infection Escape, Dollhouse Escape, Mad Scientist Escape and Midway Mini Attractions.

Knoxville Zoo BOO! at the zoo

Until October 27th

  • BOO! at the Zoo offers several nights of not-too-spooky Halloween fun this spooky season. This event is great for the preschool and elementary age children in your family. A Halloween tradition, BOO! at the Zoo is a family event with trick-or-treating along the BOO! Trail where little trick-or-treaters can fill their bags with treats as they make their way through the zoo.

Cherokee Caverns Trick or Treat in the Cave

18–20 Oct. and 25-27. Oct

  • Take the family to the historic Cherokee Caverns for the annual trick-or-treating event. At this family-friendly event, everyone is welcome to wear their favorite Halloween costumes and trick-or-treat on the cave trail. Enjoy themed scenes from favorite movies and TV shows, photo ops, thousands of lights, festive music and lots of sweets and fun among the stalagmites and stalactites.

The spooky extravaganza of Blount County

Oct 25

  • Blount County’s Spooktacular Extravaganza, a free street festival for families, will be held in historic downtown Maryville on October 25 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. The event features trick-or-treating at downtown stores, a dog costume contest, games and more.

Howl-O-Ween Pooch Parade and Pet Expo

Oct 27

  • Now in its 11th year, this Halloween event for pet owners and their dogs is co-sponsored by the University of Tennessee Gardens and the UT College of Veterinary Medicine. It will be held at the Gardens, 2518 Jacob Drive, on October 27 from 1 to 5 p.m.
  • The fair will feature educational booths, pet businesses, rescue groups, food trucks and a food drive to benefit the Companion Animal Initiative of Tennessee outreach program at the veterinary college. The event is free.
  • Costumed dogs can participate in the parade at 2:30 p.m. and be judged in the Scariest, Funniest, Homemade and Pop Culture categories.

Dancing Bear Appalachian Spooktacular

Oct. 31

  • For an upscale evening of spooky storytelling, Dancing Bear Appalachian Bistro in Townsend is hosting a fire pit storytelling event on Halloween.

Ripley’s Trick-or-Treat Kick-Off Carnival

Oct. 31

  • Ripley’s Aquarium is hosting a family Halloween event with contests, costumed characters and candy on Oct. 31 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies Plaza in Gatlinburg. All proceeds benefit the Forgotten Child Fund.
