Amazon’s God Of War show is starting over after executive producers leave the project

Kratos won’t be traveling to Valhalla or the Elysian Fields any time soon.

There seems to be problems in the world God of warbut this time the problems come not from the gods but from mortal men.

As Deadline reports, Amazon is God of war Production on the streaming show appears to be starting all over again. That’s because the executive producers have all left the project.

We reported on Deadline’s original coverage announcing this show two years ago. And the same executive producers who were named then are the same people who have left the project now:

  • Rafe Judkins, executive producer and showrunner of the Amazon show The Wheel of Time, and
  • Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, executive producers of the SyFy show The Expanse

Deadline does not provide any information as to why Judkins, Fergus and Ostby left this production. Apparently, Sony and Amazon even praised the work already done and were able to finish the work for a season. But now that the three have left the project, Sony and Amazon are now planning to take a different direction.

Earlier this year, Sony actually gave a preview of what fans could expect in its CES presentation. They confirmed that Judkins, Fergus and Ostby’s scripts are based on the 2018 era and set in Scandinavia, many years after Kratos’ violent history in Greece.

Would a God of war Did the shows set in the Greek era work for streaming? We think the answer to that may be huge. While streaming shows are known for their uncensored adult content, the appetite has evolved since the beginning of the streaming era.

When Spartacus: Blood and Sand When it was first released in 2010, it would have been easier to see that mainstream audiences wanted to see one God of war Show in a similar Greek and violent environment.

There are still series in which violence and sex are discussed in a suggestive way, such as the Extended game of Thrones Franchises have also seen viewers’ appetites evolve, allowing streaming to also make hits from historical dramas like Chernobyl and children’s programs like Bluish.

So we wouldn’t be quick to assume that this is why God of war The series faltered because it was set in the era of the 2018 games. If anything, this seems to be exacerbating Sony’s problems in developing one horizon show with Netflix.

Sony had great success with it The Last of Us Show with HBO. We can all see that they really want to repeat this with their other franchises, but it doesn’t look like those efforts are paying off with these other projects either.
