Liam Payne’s close friend and hairdresser Luke Benson has spoken about the severity of the late One Direction star’s illness during his meteoric rise to stardom.

Among the millions of tributes to Liam, Luke posted several pictures of the 31-year-old paying homage to him as his “little brother.”

In a heartfelt message on Instagram Stories, he shared: “I can’t believe it. Thank you for the best times. Some of us were lucky enough to see the best version of you.

“I’m so sorry. You didn’t choose this side of fame. Please don’t anyone comment or guess what happened without knowing. Be kind.”

Luke further elaborated on Liam’s issues, explaining: “He was so nice. But he was sick in a way he couldn’t conquer, which led to some things he shouldn’t have done.

“Misguided and too trusting. Remember that he was a son, father and friend to many.”

Concluding his tribute, Luke added: “It was a pleasure, little brother.”

The news of Liam’s untimely death at the age of 31 has sent shockwaves across the entertainment world.

Other celebrities and fans were particularly heartbroken when reports said he died after falling from a third-floor balcony at his Buenos Aires hotel.

In their grief, Liam’s former One Direction bandmates revealed they were “completely devastated” and said they would cherish their memories with him forever.

In a heartfelt statement signed by “Louis, Zayn, Niall and Harry,” Liam’s former bandmates expressed their sadness: “We are completely devastated by the news of Liam’s death.

“As time goes on and everyone is able, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved very much.

“The memories we shared with him will be remembered forever.”

In the emotional post, they added: “Right now our thoughts are with his family, his friends and the fans who loved him alongside us. “We will miss him terribly. We love you, Liam.”
