Albany Mexican restaurant teaches kids about Day of the Dead

Albany’s El Loco Mexican Cafe hosted a special event for Dia de los Muertos, the Day of the Dead.

Albany’s El Loco Mexican Cafe opened its doors to students to learn more about the tradition of Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead.

Students at Castle Island Bilingual Montessori in Albany decorated sugar skulls together and ate chalupas.

Patrick Noonan, owner of El Loco, says the ofrenda, or offering at their altar for the holidays, reflects the appreciation he feels for his 41 years in business here.

“As we grow, it means a lot more to us every year because it means we’ve been able to stay number one in the business and connect with our customers in some way for the last 41 years,” he told Midday.

The Day of the Dead will be celebrated from November 1st to 2nd this year.
