Search underway for missing Maine couple in Alexander

ALEXANDER, Maine (WGME) – Crews say they are searching for a missing Alexander husband and wife.

According to the Maine Warden Service, 72-year-old Pamela Helmstadter and 82-year-old John Helmstadter likely left their home at 26 Pine Tree Shore Road in Alexander on foot on Sunday or Monday morning. Your vehicles are still at home.

The couple’s one-year-old black Labrador named Lucy is also missing, although their other dog was found outside their home, according to wardens.

Pamela is 1.70 meters tall, weighs 65 kilograms, has gray hair and green eyes. John is 1.75 meters tall, has gray hair and brown eyes. It is unknown what they might be wearing.

The couple was reported missing to the Washington Country Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday evening. Since then, the Maine Warden Service, along with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, the Maine Forest Service and members of Maine Search and Rescue Dogs, have searched the area using dogs and a Maine Warden Service aircraft.
