Offensive errors haunt Buffalo as Falcons defeat Bulls – BG Falcon Media

The Bowling Green Falcons (11-8) defeated the Buffalo Bulls (10-11) in just three sets to defeat the Bulls on Thursday night at Alumni Arena.

With this win, the Falcons have overcome a two-game deficit and are back on the winning list in both overall and conference play. The Falcons’ win brings them to a 6-2 Mid-American Conference record.

This is how the game went:

The Buffalo Bulls got off to a hot start early, going on a quick 8-3 run highlighted by a pair of kills from sophomore outside hitters Manoela Forlin.

Still, the Orange and Brown wouldn’t go down easily as a veteran outside hitter Mia Tyler brings them back into the set with a few kills of their own.

At the beginning there is a back and forth between the head coach Danijela Tomic With the score at 15-13, the Bulls took their first timeout of the set.

Attacking errors, serving errors and all sorts of mistakes by the Bulls allowed the Falcons to go on a run and steal the first set from the Bulls by a score of 25-19.

The start of the second set was immediately déjà vu as the Bulls once again scored a quick 8-3 win over Bowling Green.

Junior middle blocker Jessica Andrews and junior opponents Lauryn Hovey Also feel the déjà vu in the air as everyone gets a few kills and leads the Falcons back into the set. Buffalo takes the first timeout of the set as the Falcon’s impressive run gave them a 15-11 lead.

Tyler and the Falcons showed a lot of aggression on the court and were sixth-year middle blockers Abby Leigh did everything she could, got a few kills, and tried to keep the Bulls and the team alive.

Once again, offensive errors allowed the Falcons to take the set from Buffalo. In the end, Bowling Green won the set with a score of 25:18 and now had a 2-0 set lead for the Orange and Brown.

The third set began with a back and forth affair with both teams scoring kills to keep the game even.

The Orange and Brown kept the offense fairly balanced, had multiple players and 5+ kills in just three sets. Buffalo allowed Bowling Green to gain some momentum, forcing the Bulls to call a timeout in the third set with a 15-12 BG lead.

Hovey and the Falcons capitalized on any of the Bulls’ offensive errors with a few kills of their own. The Orange and Brown ultimately won the third and final set 25-16, securing a clean sweep against Buffalo.

The Falcons had an impressive ten blocks on the night. The offense didn’t have to sweat too much tonight as the Bulls had a disastrous 25 offensive errors on the night which allowed the Falcons to secure the win.
