Zendaya is filming a film with Robert Pattinson in Boston

Zendaya is back in Boston.

The star of “Euphoria,” “Spider-Man,” “Dune” and the Boston-filmed tennis drama “Challengers” was photographed at the Back Bay on Newbury Street earlier this week.

An artist at Rainbows Pottery Studio shared photos of Zendaya on Instagram, writing that the actress admired her work at an outdoor exhibition and that it “deeply touched her as a young, growing artist.”

“I am very happy that my artwork has been admired by many The Zendaya,” she wrote. “As she looked at the table with 30 different artists and several different pieces, she picked up the cup that I had painted.”

Zendaya will star alongside Pattinson (“Twilight”) in “The Drama,” an upcoming film from A24 directed by Kristoffer Borgli (“Dream Scenario”) and produced by Ari Aster (“Midsommar,” “Hereditary”).

This summer, local filmmakers began staffing the project, and location scouts began putting up signs in Back Bay and Charlestown in early September during pre-production.

Production Weekly reports that “The Drama” will film from approximately October 21 to December 18, while Production List reports that filming will also take place in New York City and Los Angeles.

Little has been released about the plot of “The Drama,” aside from a one-line synopsis from Deadline that describes the film as “a romance that takes an unexpected turn before a couple’s big day.” Deadline also reported that Mamoudou Athie (“Elemental”) and singer/actress Alana Haim (“Licorice Pizza”) are in “final talks” to join the film’s cast.

Zendaya last filmed a film in Boston in 2022, when she filmed Luca Guadagnino’s tennis drama “Challengers” with Josh O’Connor and Mike Faist. Scenes for the 2024 film were filmed in Bedford, Beverly, Boston, Braintree, Canton, Framingham, Lynn and Norton.

Before production began on “Challengers,” the actress was spotted in the Back Bay several times, including visiting a coffee shop with her boyfriend (and “Spider-Man” co-star) Tom Holland.
