One person was flown to the hospital Thursday after a fiery two-car collision on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu.

The accident occurred in the westbound lanes of PCH near Latigo Shore shortly before 5 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

When emergency services arrived, they discovered that two cars had collided on the road and both had gone into the hillside.

One of the drivers had to be freed from his car because it was significantly damaged in the collision.

Paramedics took one of the drivers to a location near Pepperdine University, where an LACoFD helicopter was waiting to transport him to a nearby hospital.

Her condition was initially unknown.
