Three dogs have to be put down after a fatal attack on a toddler

SAN ANTONIO – All three dogs involved in the fatal abuse of a 1-year-old child will be euthanized, according to a judge’s ruling Thursday.

The dogs’ owner, Heather Rodriguez, has ten days to appeal the decision.

The victim, 1-year-old Jiryiah Johnson, was at Rodriguez’s home at the time of the attack. Rodriguez was supposed to look after him, but Johnson was left alone with Rodriguez’s 13-year-old daughter.

That’s when the three pit bulls escaped and attacked the baby. Johnson was taken to hospital but, despite best efforts, succumbed to his injuries.

Rodriguez was arrested after the attack and is charged with three felonies.
