Oregon vs Purdue prediction, picks, spread, football match odds, where to watch, TV channel, live stream

No. 2 Oregon beat No. 4 Ohio State last weekend for one of the biggest wins in program history, but the Ducks’ true Big Ten baptism of fire comes just six days later. Then the Ducks must travel to West Lafayette, Indiana, to face Purdue at night.

They’re not called the spoiler makers for nothing, ladies and gentlemen. Many betting favorites have previously taken Purdue for granted, only to quickly wipe their smiles off their faces.

Did you know that as an unranked team, Purdue has nine wins against teams ranked No. 1 or No. 2 in the AP Top 25? It does. That’s more than any other program in the survey era. The most recent win came during the 2021 season when the Boilermakers defeated No. 2 Iowa 24-7 in Iowa City. And who could forget what happened in 2018? That’s when big, bad Ohio State came to Purdue at 7-0 and lost 49-20 to a 3-3 Purdue team. It was Ohio State’s only loss of the season and kept the Buckeyes out of the College Football Playoff despite winning the Big Ten.

So don’t count your ducklings before they’re hatched, Oregon. Overlook Purdue at your own risk.

Oregon vs. Purdue: Need to know

These two don’t play often, but they play close: The story between these two is that they add fuel to the potential fire. They have only played three times and Oregon has won two of them, but all three games have been a tie affair. The last meeting was in 2009, when the Ducks survived 38-36 at home after Purdue failed a 2-point conversion with 61 seconds left. The Boilermakers’ only win in this series came in their first meeting in 1979. The 13-7 triumph was the largest margin of victory between these two new conference opponents.

Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel is once again one of the favorites to win the Heisman Trophy: Gabriel began the season as a Heisman favorite but faded after a slow start. Well, after throwing for 341 yards and running for 32 yards and scoring three total touchdowns against Ohio State last week, he’s back. According to Caesars Sportsbook, Gabriel currently has betting odds of +320 to take home the Heisman. While Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty remains the favorite at +175, his lead over Gabriel has narrowed significantly.

Oregon is looking to start 7-0 for the first time since 2013: Oregon has had a lot of success over the years but got off to such a strong start. If the Ducks win on Friday, they will be 7-0 for the first time since 2013. This was the first year after Mark Helfrich replaced Chip Kelly and Marcus Mariota was Oregon’s quarterback. The Ducks went 8-0 this season before falling on the road to No. 6 Stanford. They finished the year 11-2 with a win over Texas in the Alamo Bowl.

Oregon vs Purdue Prediction, Tips

Listen, I think Oregon will avoid the surprise loss here. But heading out on the road to play on a Friday night after perhaps the biggest win in program history is the perfect recipe for disappointment. And while Purdue lost last week, they pulled off an incredible comeback against Illinois to force overtime. It looks like something has finally clicked for them offensively. So when sports betting apps give me almost four touchdowns, I take them. Pick: Purdue +27.5.
