NMiF begins election coverage with Senator Martin Heinrich; Local Voices on the Election: UNM Newsroom

This week, New Mexico in Focus begins 2024 election interviews with U.S. Sen. Martin Heinrich, D-N.M. Political correspondent Gwyneth Doland asks about the top concerns of most New Mexico voters: crime in our state, immigration reform and security at our southern border.

Gwyneth then asks Heinrich about his stance on abortion, his work to pass gun control reform measures, and his thoughts on artificial intelligence.

In collaboration with New Mexico in Depth, Indigenous affairs reporter Bella Davis speaks with several Native Americans about this year’s election and why some people are considering voting third party — or not voting at all.

NMiF airs Friday, October 18 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, October 20 at 7 p.m. on NMPBS 5.1 (KNME HD) and streams on the PBS Video app.
