Shots fired by LAPD officers while investigating aggressive dogs

A pair of dogs “aggressively” attacked police in South Los Angeles, prompting at least one officer to open fire, but neither animal was hit by the gunfire, police said Thursday.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers from the 77th Street Division responded to the intersection of Raymond Avenue and West 59th Street around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday for a report of aggressive dogs in the area.

Responding officers spoke briefly with a man who said he was attacked by a pit bull and a German shepherd but managed to fight them off, police said. The dogs were last seen near a mobile home parked on Raymond Avenue north of West 58th Place.
