Man dies after stabbing near Sahara and Decatur; Son-in-law arrested for murder

As police announced early Thursday morning, a man died after a knife attack.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department reported that officers responded to a call about a stabbing in the 2800 block of South Decatur Boulevard around 2:24 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a man in an apartment suffering from apparent stab wounds.

Medical personnel transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries, authorities said.

Homicide detectives determined that the victim was involved in a verbal altercation with his son-in-law, 31-year-old Aristides Matute.

During the argument, Matute allegedly produced a knife and stabbed the victim, police said.

Matute was arrested and booked into the Clark County Detention Center on a charge of open murder.
