Ardmore police arrest suspect in connection with shooting

ARDMORE, Okla. (KXII) – Ardmore Police Sergeant Jake Glazener says the shooting happened Monday evening in the 600 block of A Street NW. He says one person was shot but was treated at the scene and released.

“We are still reviewing the details to determine what the motive may be, but at this time we suspect it may be a gang-related shooting,” Glazener said.

He says officers were able to use license plate readers and witness videos to gather information about one suspect, but says they believe other suspects may be involved.

“We have some names that people are looking for. “We’re not ready to release that information yet, but we know there are more people we’re looking for,” Glazener said.

He says officers were able to locate the suspect’s vehicle during a traffic stop on Wednesday and arrest Preston Eikermann for his alleged connection to the shooting.

“Using the video we had in conjunction with our license plate reading technology, we were able to locate the vehicle that was stopped at a traffic stop and detained without incident,” Glazener said. “There was obviously a trial and he was later arrested on probable cause,” Glazener added.

Glazener says another shooting occurred the next morning near the same area at a residence in the 700 block of A Street NE. No suspect has been identified yet, but police hope ballistic evidence recovered from the scene will help them find a lead and are asking the public to call law enforcement with any information about the shooting.

“The hope is that we can take and expand on the information we have about this shooting and use that information to solve the other shootings,” Glazener said.

Eikermann is currently being held in the Carter County Jail on charges of using a vehicle to facilitate the discharge of a weapon.
