Zayn Malik took to Instagram to pay tribute to Liam Payne following his tragic death. Zayn posted a throwback picture of the couple sleeping during their One Direction days, while in the next picture he shared a heartbreaking message.

“Liam, I found myself talking loudly to you, hoping you could hear me. I can’t help but selfishly think that there were so many more conversations for us to have in our lives,” he wrote. “I have never been able to thank you for supporting me through some of the most difficult times of my life.

“When I missed home as a 17-year-old child, you were always there with a positive attitude and a reassuring smile, letting me know that you were my friend and I was loved.”

“Although you were younger than me, you were always more sensible than me, you were stubborn, opinionated and didn’t bother to tell people they were wrong. Even though we clashed a few times because of it.” [laughing emoji] “I’ve always secretly respected you for that,” the father-of-one continued.

“When it came to music, Liam, you were the most qualified in every way. I knew nothing compared to that. I was a beginner kid with no experience and you were already a pro.”
