Des Moines woman dies in crash in Iowa County

MILLERSBURG – Jeanne Kashindi, 53, of Des Moines, died Monday, Oct. 15, in a car accident near Millersburg.

Rachel Happy, 18, of Des Moines, was injured in the crash and taken by Iowa County Ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, Kashindi was driving a 2012 Kia Sportage east on the F52 Trail, failed to stop at the intersection with H Avenue and turned onto a downhill driveway to a gravel yard in the county.

The vehicle struck shards of concrete before landing on the driver’s side of the car.

Both Kashindi and Happy were wearing seatbelts.

The accident is being investigated.
