God Of War showrunner, writers fired: series is being reworked

It has been learned that the God of war Sony Pictures TV’s series in development at Amazon is undergoing a complete overhaul and the showrunner and writers have been fired.

The live action God of war was announced in 2022, the first text for the series was written in January of this year.

However, it is now reported that showrunner Rafe Judkins and his executive producers and writers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus have been fired because they wanted to pursue a different creative direction.

According to Deadline, several scripts for the first season have been completed, but the studios plan to go in a different creative direction.

The site adds that Sony and Amazon are now planning to lease an entirely new writers’ room for the God of war Series that is an important win for Prime Video.

Interestingly, Rafe Judkins is behind Amazon and Sony Wheel of timewhich I don’t think went over so well (I couldn’t watch more than the first episode).

Removing the entire creative team is also similar to what Marvel Studios did with it recently Daredevil: Reborn Series.

I was told Daredevil: Reborn was a complete disaster and would need an upgrade as far as craftsmanship goes Exactly said months later. I suspect it’s something similar God of war.

I also suspect – and let’s keep our fingers crossed – that Amazon has learned from this Rings of power not to screw up beloved IPs. If it’s done right, God of war could be huge (it is not hard to get it right).

I also wonder if the change in creative direction has to do with the setting and version of Kratos they want to use: will it be the younger Greek storyline? Or the newer older version of Kratos with his son? I hope for the former.
