This new chronograph is a masterclass in modernized vintage watch design

Modern reissues of vintage watches are nothing new. They’ve been popular in the industry for at least a decade, and watch buyers’ appetite for them hasn’t really waned.

In most cases, when a brand recreates a vintage watch, it tries to stay as true to the original as possible. For many collectors, that’s exactly what they want: a new watch that looks just like a vintage watch, but without the headaches that come with owning a vintage watch.

But every now and then a brand simply uses the original vintage inspiration as a starting point and creates something truly new from it. That’s exactly what H. Moser & Cie. and Massena LAB with their new collaboration, Moser & Cie. x Massena LAB Endeavor Chronograph Compax, done, and the end result is all the better.

The 1940s gets a 2020s makeover

Moser is currently one of the hottest names in independent haute horlogerie and seemed to be coming onto the scene in 2005 and especially in the last decade following the takeover of the brand by the Meylan family in 2012.

But in reality, 2005 merely marked the relaunch of the brand after several decades of dormancy. Founded back in 1828, Moser has a surprisingly long history for a brand often cited as a leader in contemporary 21st century watch design.
