Fired gay former LACo lifeguard settles discrimination lawsuit

A gay former Los Angeles County lifeguard with a long history of saving swimmers from drowning has settled her lawsuit against her ex-employer in which she claimed she was subjected to homophobic comments from male colleagues and wrongfully fired in 2022, shortly after she posted her engagement on a website woman on her social media accounts.

Paige Sullivan’s lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court also alleged sex and gender discrimination and harassment, as well as failure to prevent discrimination and harassment. On Oct. 8, Sullivan’s attorney filed court documents with Judge Thomas D. Long informing him of the settlement of the lawsuit, and additional documents on Wednesday requesting that Sullivan’s case be dismissed. No terms were disclosed.

In their previously filed court papers, district attorneys insisted that Sullivan’s allegations were vague.
