Largest publicly known DDoS attack mitigated

The attacks targeted the financial services, internet and telecommunications industries.

A month-long campaign of over a hundred level three and four hypervolumetric DDoS attacks was repelled, with many exceeding two billion packets per second (Bpps) and three terabits per second (Tbps).

According to Cloudflare, the largest attack peaked at 3.8 Tbps – the largest ever publicly disclosed. Specifically, the DDoS attacks were directed against, among others, several customers from the financial services, Internet and telecommunications industries.

The goal of this attack campaign was to saturate bandwidth in September and exhaust inline applications and devices.
