Jigra Week 1 Box Office Collections India: Alia Bhatt-led jailbreak drama has a DISAPPOINTING first week with Rs 22 Crore

Jigra, directed by Vasan Bala and starring Alia Bhatt, Vedang Raina, Manoj Pahwa and others, had a poor first weekend at the box office as the film managed to gross just Rs 16.50 crore. The film did not hold up well on weekdays, suggesting that it lacked connection with the audience. In the first seven days, ‘Jigra’ has collected Rs 22 crore and while there won’t be any significant competition at the box office in the next few weeks, it won’t be able to take full advantage of it.

Jigra just raised Rs 22 crore in its first week in India

Jigra was expected to garner support from its target audience, namely the audience of high-end metropolitan multiplexes. But that didn’t happen. Although it was the bigger showcase among Hindi films this Dussehra, it ended up being the second most popular choice, not just for the first day or the first weekend but for the entire week. This is expected to remain this way for the remainder of the run.

Jigra disappoints India, but performs fairly internationally

In the best case scenario, Jigra will have to settle for a lifetime of ₹30-33 crore net in India. Because of the size and the lead actor, the film had to do much better. Internationally, the jailbreak drama has collected a decent collection of around 1.75 crores in week 1, but that is still less than what one would expect from an Alia Bhatt film. Going forward, filmmakers will have to be very careful about the films they make for the big screen. Since very few viewers already come to the cinemas, it is important to try to reach more and more potential theatergoers. Since the theater audience doesn’t show much interest, it’s now about the digital reception of Jigra.
