Another victim alleges sexual assault against former OHL players

The sport of major junior hockey is once again in trouble as new allegations are made against several former players. In a tweet from Rick Westhead, another woman has come forward and accused several former Ontario Hockey League (OHL) players of sexual assault.

The victim says she was raped by eight OHL players in November 2014. Westhead states that the attack took place in the quarters of one of the players.

In a full report from Westhead, the victim described the events and said she was 22 years old and in a consensual relationship with a 19-year-old player. The two had been together for about six months.

The victim’s report states that the attack lasted about 90 minutes and involved players as young as 16 years old. The victim says the 16-year-olds may have been pressured into taking part in the attack.

The victim didn’t tell anyone about the attack until this year. It was the press conference about the sexual assault case against five former Team Canada players at the 2018 World Junior Championships that prompted her to contact police.

When contacting authorities, an Ontario Provincial Police officer did not follow proper protocol.

It has been almost a decade since the alleged assault occurred and the victim is now 32 years old. No details about players or the team were released.

The OHL has now released a statement on the allegations. The league says it only became aware of the allegations on Wednesday. They are cooperating fully with the police investigation.
