GSP trooper injured in accident Wednesday evening while responding to another accident

COLQUITT COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) – A Georgia State Patrol trooper was involved in a crash Wednesday night in Colquitt County that left both the trooper and the driver of the other vehicle injured.

On Wednesday, October 16, at approximately 5:30 p.m., a police officer and an ambulance were traveling northbound on SR 133 to the scene of an accident.

Both the trooper and the ambulance activated their emergency equipment and attempted to proceed through the intersection of SR 133 and SR 35. The ambulance was able to drive through the intersection, but the police officer could not.

A Lincoln SUV failed to yield to the patrol unit and struck the patrol unit on the right passenger side of the vehicle.

This accident resulted in injuries to both the driver of the Lincoln SUV and the police officer. Both were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The soldier was later released from the hospital.

This accident is still under investigation.
