Woman in critical condition after accident starts fire

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – A woman suffered life-threatening injuries after crashing into a utility pole this morning, October 17, according to Tucson Police.

According to TPD, the accident occurred around 5:30 a.m. in the 1400 block of N. Alvernon. The one just south of Pima Street.

According to police, the driver crashed into a utility pole and the force of the impact caused a fire in a nearby apartment complex.

The building was evacuated and Tucson Fire Department personnel extinguished the fire.

There is a road closure from Lee Street to the Speedway while emergency crews investigate the crash and fire.
