The latest recruiting rankings show us the incredible work Corey Raymond has done

When Brian Kelly brought Corey Raymond back, the goal was clear: Raymond had to bring the DBU mentality and identity back to the bayou. The rebirth would never happen overnight, as Raymond still needed to sign the players whose fit and play he liked best.

Recruiting rankings are not an exact science as we have seen five stars fail and two star recruits like Justin Jefferson become superstars in college and the NFL. These rankings are continually updated as players continue their high school careers and evaluators review additional records.

When you look at the recruiting rankings for Corey Raymond’s incredible class, it’s clear that the rebuild is well underway. 24/7 Sports updated its recruiting rankings this week, showing that LSU has a class of defensive backs ready to make an impact at LSU.

24/7 Sports has the lowest odds on DJ Pickett of any recruiting site, yet he is their No. 4 cornerback and their No. 19 player overall. The drop in his ranking is likely more due to his move from safety, where he was ranked to cornerback, but it’s still clear that they consider him a five-star talent.

Kade Phillips has made a huge jump and is now the 37th ranked player in the class and the sixth ranked cornerback. When LSU traded Phillips, it was huge as he is another cornerback who fits the Corey Raymond prototype and could be a player who pushes for immediate playing time.

The two biggest movers were two cornerbacks who came straight from LSU’s home stadium, which was always a success. Aidan Anding is now a four-star recruit, ranked as the 155th best recruit in his class and the 18th best cornerback. Jacob Bradford is now the 170th-best recruit in his class and has a chance to play cornerback or safety at LSU.

The LSU team has seen Anding and Bradford play more than any other cornerback due to their proximity, which should only make everyone even more excited about their potential impact.

This season, with Corey Raymond in charge of cornerback development, we’ve already seen the changes. Ashton Stamps has become the best cornerback on this team and the more experience he gains, the better this team will become. We’ve seen a true freshman in PJ Woodland get into some big games and make huge plays, and he’ll be a player LSU will rely on heavily in 2025 should get everyone excited about what’s to come.
