LeBron and Savannah James speak out for the first time about their son’s cardiac arrest

20-year-old Bronny James caused concern among fans when he suffered cardiac arrest while training at USC in July 2023. Luckily, the basketball player has recovered and is now pursuing his dreams as an NBA player alongside his father, LeBron James. A new documentary on Netflix says so From 5Savannah James spoke about her son’s health crisis and recovery.

“It was all about supporting each other and being super grateful for the outcome,” Savannah says in a clip shared on social media.

The mother of three thanked God and all the people who supported Bronny’s recovery process.

“Kudos to the man upstairs,” James said in the docuseries. “To the entire coaching staff, training staff and members of this program.”

Erin, a medical professional for the NBA player’s mother, Gloria James, performed CPR on the 20-year-old when he collapsed during practice. In the video from the docuseries, Lebron introduces her and explains the role she played in saving his eldest son’s life.

“You are the reason Bronny is alive now and smiling and successful and doing what every 19-year-old should do, which is pursue his dream,” LeBron said.

“It’s crazy with kids when they love something and want something that’s close to their heart,” LeBron continued. “As a parent, you think, ‘You had a cardiac arrest.’ And in his head he’s thinking, ‘Can I play ball again or not?’ And if the answer is yes, ‘When can I play ball again?’ I love that.”

After a cardiac arrest, Bronny entered the 2024 NBA Draft and was selected in the second round by the Lakers. The NBA rookie was drafted by the Lakers and made history as they became the first father-son duo to play on the same team.

We are happy that the young man is doing better and that he is realizing his dreams together with his father!
