Top Biden agency sends blunt message to criminal immigrants after sensitive data becomes liability for administrator

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) this week warned noncitizen criminals with felony convictions that they will “lose the privilege” of being in the United States — in powerful language rarely used by the Biden administration.

“Non-citizens with felony convictions lose their privilege to remain in the United States,” ICE’s Office of Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) in New York said Tuesday.

The statement came as several arrests were announced in New York City, a sanctuary city that limits cooperation with ICE detainees. These detainees request that ICE be notified when a potentially deportable suspect is released so he or she can be placed in ICE custody. That means ICE agents must go into the community to arrest immigrant criminals.

The ICE account noted the arrest of a 45-year-old Jamaican citizen convicted of forcible touching and a 34-year-old Guatemalan convicted of illegal re-entry. Officers also arrested a 38-year-old Dominican Republic citizen who was charged with sexual misconduct and a “criminal sexual act.”

The Biden administration has said it is prioritizing public safety and national security threats as part of its narrower enforcement priorities. However, it came under criticism because of a sharp decline in deportations compared to the previous government.

Recently, the deportation of criminals came under scrutiny after figures showed that there are 425,431 convicted felons among those in deportation proceedings but not in ICE custody. That’s an increase from around 405,000 in June 2021 and 368,000 in April 2016.

New poll shows Trump with clear lead on immigration and border security in key battleground state

Overall, the non-detained list, which includes people who are in deportation proceedings or have a final deportation order but are not in ICE custody, has grown to more than 7.4 million people, up from about 3 .7 million at the time of former President Donald Trump’s departure from office.

Immigration has become a top election issue, with both Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris pushing to be seen as tougher than the others on the border crisis.

However, multiple polls have shown that Trump is the most trusted candidate among voters on border security and immigration.

Harris has criticized Trump for failing to support a bipartisan border security bill that would have increased funding for the border and limited releases into the interior of the country. Conservatives said the bill would only codify high levels of illegal immigration. Trump accused the government of fueling the crisis with its liberal border policy.

He recently commented on the number of illegal immigrant criminals in the country.

“You know, now a murderer, I think it’s in her genes. And we have a lot of bad genes in our country right now,” he said.
