Two people died in a Taconic accident in LaGrange, New York

The incident was first reported just before 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 15, and involved two vehicles traveling on the Taconic State Parkway in the area of ​​Todd Hill Road.

The drivers were Joseph W. LaFave of Lagrangeville, age 35, and William F. Sheibel of Wading New York, age 69.

Fatal accident on the Taconic State Parkway

The New York State Police issued one Press release on Wednesday, October 16, with additional information about the fatal accident and said that the day before, October 15, at approximately 2:42 p.m., NYSP responded to a “serious motor vehicle accident” involving a wrong-way driver.

New York State Police said a preliminary investigation revealed that the 35-year-old driver of a 2017 BMW X1, LaFave, was “traveling north in the southbound lanes of the Taconic State Parkway in the area of ​​Todd Hill Road.” At that point, LaFave crashed head-on into another vehicle in the left southbound lane.

The other vehicle, a 2017 Lincoln Navigator, was driven by 69-year-old Sheibel, who was taken to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Also in the same vehicle was a 67-year-old female passenger who was also transported to Mid-Hudson Regional with “non-life-threatening injuries.”

According to police, LaFave was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.

The investigation into this accident is currently ongoing.
