Two children riding an electric scooter near Stony Island Avenue in Grand Crossing are injured in a Chicago accident: CPD

CHICAGO (WLS) – Two children were injured Wednesday afternoon when they were struck by a vehicle while riding an electric scooter on Chicago’s South Side, Chicago police said.

A 7-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy were driving west in the area of ​​the 6900 block of South Stony Island Avenue in Grand Crossing around 3:40 p.m. when they were struck by a southbound white pickup truck at an intersection, said the police.

The 12-year-old was treated by the Chicago Fire Department and taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in good condition, police said.

CFD took the seven-year-old to Comer Children’s in serious condition.

The driver remained at the scene and was not injured, police said.

No citations had been issued early Thursday morning.

The criminal police are investigating.
