Injury scare for Team India as Rishabh Pant limps off the field | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: Team India had a worrying moment when Rishabh Pant limped towards the field after being hit on his right knee by the ball while keeping the wicket on day two of the first Test New Zealand in Bengaluru on Thursday.
The incident occurred on the last ball of the 37th over. Left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja hit a flatter delivery that turned sharply outside off. New Zealand batsman Devon Conway made a rash drive but missed it as the ball almost missed the off-stump and ended up hitting Pant on the side of his right knee, which is not protected by pads. Pant immediately fell to the ground and grimaced in pain.
The physical therapist examined Pant’s injury closely, but he ended up limping off the field in great pain. Dhruv Jurelwho came on as a substitute for Pant, entered the field wearing his pads and helmet.
While the extent of the injury remains unclear, a setback in his recovery could impact India’s future plans Test series and coming Border Gavaskar Trophy in Australia.
Fans and teammates are hoping for a speedy recovery as Pant’s dynamic presence is crucial to India’s stability in the midfield.
