SM Entertainment Updates RIIZE and Seunghan Impersonator Lawsuits; warns against malicious comments, threats and slander

Amid the situation surrounding Seunghan’s exit from RIIZE, SM Entertainment has released official statements detailing the legal action taken against malicious commenters. Fans have announced boycott plans against the agency after Seunghan, who was set to return to the boy band after his hiatus ended, repeatedly quit the group due to hateful comments from netizens. Fans criticized the agency for not taking action. Will her latest statement change the situation?

On October 17, SM Entertainment shared a statement detailing the legal action related to the violation of Seunghan’s rights, citing its official social media handles.

“Since his debut, we have continuously monitored malicious posts and comments containing false information, personal attacks, insults and slander against Seunghan. We have already collected numerous evidence and are taking legal action, including filing complaints against various illegal activities,” the agency said.

They added that people who pose as his acquaintances to spread misinformation and damage his character are clearly committing criminal acts. Therefore, they plan to continue legal action without settlement or leniency.

At the same time, SM Entertainment also announced legal action against the defamation of RIIZE, which is officially a six-member group after Seunghan’s exit. In its statement, the agency reiterated that it has observed malicious activity and filed lawsuits against it.

“In particular, we would like to inform you that some people who posed as acquaintances of RIIZE members on Instagram and wrote false information, as well as people whose illegal actions were confirmed, have been identified and referred to the prosecutor’s office,” the authority explained.

They reiterated that they will continue to take action against defamatory content and videos tagging members on platforms such as X, Instagram and YouTube at home and abroad.
