UN peacekeepers say an Israeli tank fired on their watchtower in Lebanon

The UN Interim Force in Lebanon reported renewed shelling of its positions by Israeli troops in the border region of Kafer Kela, reports TASS.

The Israeli Merkava tank fired on the armed forces watchtower and damaged some equipment, the UNIFL said on X. No peacekeepers were injured in the incident.

“Once again we see direct and apparently deliberate fire on a UNIFIL position,” the X-Post said. “We remind the IDF and all actors of their obligation to ensure the security of UN personnel and property and to respect the inviolability of UN premises at all times.”

UNIFL said on October 10 that Israeli forces fired on its command center in Ras Naqoura, wounding two peacekeepers. Two other UNIFL members suffered injuries on October 11 and another peacekeeper suffered a gunshot wound in October.
