In a tense incident, Chennai airport officials received an alarming anonymous call on Wednesday afternoon claiming that powerful bombs had been planted in the airport’s toilets and could explode at any moment. The security forces were immediately alerted and police, CISF officers, bomb detection squads and sniffer dogs were immediately sent to the scene. After an extensive search, it was determined that the bomb threat was a fake.

Following the hoax, Chennai airport police registered a case and launched an investigation to ascertain the source of the call. When investigators traced the mobile phone number used to make the threat, they found that it was from an area under the jurisdiction of Selaiyur police station near Tambaram.

Upon further investigation, authorities discovered that the call had been made by two 11th grade students from a nearby school. The police have now issued an urgent warning to the students and advised against such irresponsible actions. They highlighted the serious consequences of such behavior, which can cause unnecessary panic and divert critical security resources.

This incident is a reminder of the importance of responsible behavior, especially in a high-security environment like an airport. Chennai Police urges the public, especially young people, to understand the seriousness of false threats, which can lead to legal action and serious consequences.
