In the early hours of Thursday there was another wave of Russian drones and missiles targeting Ukraine. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the attack began at 7:30 p.m. on October 16 and lasted until 5:00 a.m. the next day.

The enemy fired an X-59 guided air-to-surface missile from the Kursk region, while 56 drones of various types came from Kursk, Oryol and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.

Ukrainian air defenses shot down 22 drones, while electronic warfare (EW) systems disabled 27 others, rendering them ineffective. Two drones flew towards Belarus. Unfortunately, five drones hit infrastructure locations in frontline regions.

To repel the attack, Ukraine deployed a combination of aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, EW units and mobile fire groups from both the Air Force and the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

Drone attacks took place in the Sumy, Kiev, Poltava, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, Mykolaiv, Cherkasy, Odessa and Ternopil regions.
