Another bomb attack rocks Indian airline as Vistara flight lands safely in Mumbai

BENGALURU, Oct 17 – The latest in a series of false threats against Indian airlines targeted a flight from Germany today, the airline said, with the plane landing safely in Mumbai.

More than a dozen fake bomb threats were made against flights of several Indian airlines this week, prompting the government and civil aviation authorities to warn that “very strict action” will be taken.

Indian airline Vistara said its passenger plane, which flew from Frankfurt to Mumbai the day before, received a “security threat” on social media but landed safely at its scheduled destination.

“We are fully cooperating with security agencies to carry out mandatory security checks,” Vistara said in a statement.

India’s Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu said last night that police had arrested “a minor responsible for spreading bomb threats” against three flights.

“Any others responsible for the disruption will be identified and properly prosecuted,” Naidu added.

The affected flights also include an Air India plane from New Delhi to Chicago, which had to make an emergency landing in Canada on Tuesday.
