CBS puts “Watson” in the leadout of the post-AFC championship game

CBS has planned Watsona medical drama set in the world of Sherlock Holmes and starring Morris Chestnut as Dr. John Watson, premiering after the AFC Championship Game on January 26, 2025.

The coveted leadout slot will be awarded to the series, which is set six months after the death of Watson’s friend and partner Sherlock Holmes Watson The broadcast begins as usual on February 16th. The CBS Studios medical mystery drama also stars Eve Harlow, Peter Mark Kendall, Ritchie Coster, Inga Schlingmann and Rochelle Aytes.

Watson will also stream on Paramount+ on January 26, 2025, with start time dependent on completion of post-game coverage. At the center of the drama is Dr. Watson, who resumes his medical career as head of a rare disease clinic after Holmes’ death.

The CBS drama is inspired by the characters from Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes mystery. Moriarty (who killed Holmes) will be a prominent character in the series, which the network says will represent a “modern take on one of history’s greatest detectives, turning his attention from solving crimes to solving medical mysteries.”

Craig Sweeny wrote the first episode and serves as showrunner and executive producer. Chestnut, Sallie Patrick, Larry Teng, Sharon Moalem, Aaron Kaplan and Brian Morewitz also executive produce Watsonwhich was produced in-house at CBS Studios.
