Andrew Garfield’s forgotten drama is on TV tonight

Andrew Garfield’s forgotten drama is on TV tonight

Andrew Garfield is one of the most talked about actors of today with his romantic drama We live in time now available in the USA.

As we wait for the film to arrive in the UK on January 1 and its highly anticipated Chicken Shop Date with Amelia Dimoldenberg on Friday, it’s the perfect time to remember one of the actor’s forgotten works.

Garfield’s 2017 drama Breathe will be broadcast on BBC Two at 11.05pm tonight (October 17th).

If you already had plans for Thursday night, don’t worry because the film will be available to stream on BBC iPlayer shortly afterwards.

The film tells the true story of Robin Cavendish, who advocates for people with disabilities after contracting polio at the age of 28.

Cavendish was bedridden and given only months to live, but with the help of his wife Diana and her twin brothers, as well as the work of inventor Teddy Hall, he left the hospital shortly after the diagnosis. In the end, he had a long life, which he dedicated to helping his fellow patients and disabled people.

Breathe was the directorial debut of actor Andy Serkis and starred Claire Foy, Hugh Bonneville, Tom Hollander, Ed Speleers and Dean-Charles Chapman.

Released in 2017, the film received mixed reviews from critics, achieving a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 68% (from 168 reviews), while audience reactions increased the score to 72%.

Critics praised Serkis’ direction and the emotional performances of Garfield and Foy, but pointed to an excess of romanticism rather than honoring Cavendish’s extraordinary life and work.

As We live in time Garfield is becoming an awards contender this season and is already working on several new projects, including Luca Guadagnino’s next film After the hunt. The drama also stars Julia Roberts and The bear Star Ayo Edebiri.

Breathe airs tonight (October 17) at 11.05pm on BBC Two.
