Teen stabbed to death by classmate at Rialto Middle School – NBC Los Angeles

A mother whose teenage son was stabbed in a disturbing on-camera attack at school is speaking out in the hope it will increase safety on campus.

As Sandra Aguilar’s 14-year-old son recovers from the attack he suffered last week, she hopes the Rialto Unified School District takes responsibility for what happened to her child at Frisbie Middle School.

Aguilar recalled receiving the heartbreaking call that her son had been stabbed by another student. And what’s worse, the attack was partially recorded on the cell phone.

“A friend of my son called me and told me that my son had been stabbed,” Aguilar said. “I went crazy and started screaming.”

Aguilar said the attack occurred during her son’s gym class and a video of it was shared on social media.

Rialto Unified confirmed the stabbing occurred Friday and that police were called. Due to the severity of the boy’s injuries, paramedics were called.

It is unclear what consequences, if any, the attacker could face.

“You have failed me as a district, as a principal and as a school,” she said. “What are you going to do about it?”

Meanwhile, Aguilar’s son has not returned to school. The boy’s mother said he had been subjected to bullying for the past two years. The school district said it continues to investigate the attack.

“In addition, parents were notified and informed twice of this incident,” Rialto Unified said in a statement. “The staff was also informed by the administration. The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority. We will continue to increase communication with parents to ensure campus safety remains a shared responsibility.”
