A suspect is currently being sought in Fort Collins following a serious stabbing attack on the Colorado State University campus Wednesday evening. CSU ordered a campus-wide shelter in place shortly before 9 p.m. — after the crime was reported near Laurel Hall and it was believed the suspect may still be on campus — and the order was lifted about 30 minutes later .

The attack occurred on the oval at the center of the Fort Collins campus, the university said. So far, the exact nature of the crime is unclear and it is not known how many victims there were. There were no reports of injuries.

“Law enforcement from CSU and Fort Collins Police conducted a thorough search of the area and it is believed that the suspect fled campus,” the university wrote in an emergency notification.

The suspect in the attack was described as a white male in his 30s. He was wearing a black shirt and a black backpack. Anyone who spots the suspect is asked to call 911.

Much earlier in the day, there was another situation on campus involving police. A person was found dead in a dormitory. Authorities have not released the identity of this person and the cause of death is currently unknown.
