One Direction singer Liam Payne is dead after falling from a balcony

Former One Direction singer Liam Payne was found dead outside a hotel in Buenos Aires on Wednesday.

Argentine police said the 31-year-old fell from the balcony of the third-floor room where he was staying.

Distraught fans gathered outside the hotel on Wednesday evening.

In a statement, police said they were called to a hotel in the capital’s Palermo district where they were informed of a quote: “Aggressive male who may be under the influence of drugs and alcohol.”

The hotel manager said he heard a loud noise at the back of the hotel.

When police arrived, they discovered that a man had fallen over the balcony of his room.

Rescue workers confirmed the death of the British singer, who was reportedly found in the hotel’s courtyard.

In this video, authorities can be seen removing Payne’s body from the hotel.

The previous Wednesday, Payne had apparently posted what were believed to be the last videos of him alive on Snapchat.

“Tomorrow, everyone.”

“Today we are riding. We’ll ride some horses.”

The “For You” singer gained worldwide fame as part of the now-defunct pop band One Direction.

The group disbanded in 2016 as its members pursued various projects, including solo careers.

Payne attended his former bandmate Niall Horan’s concert in Buenos Aires on October 2nd.

The musician has previously spoken publicly about his struggles with mental health and drinking alcohol to cope with the pressures of fame.

In a video posted to his YouTube channel last year, he talked about giving up alcohol and thanked his supporters for standing by him through difficult times.

Neither Payne’s record label Republic Records nor its owner Universal Music Group could immediately be reached for comment.
