Police are providing information about the current arrest warrant for a man who threatened mass violence at Montgomery College

Takoma Park police have provided an update on their investigation into “threats of mass violence” from Yonas Alemseged Harris when he sent emails to Montgomery College and Montgomery County police threatening to “shoot up” the school “.

TPPD writes, “The investigation to date has revealed no evidence that Harris is in this area and poses a threat. “We continue to work with our law enforcement partners to close this case.”

According to police, “The Takoma Park Police Department has an active arrest warrant for Yonas Alemseged Harris, 25, for threats of mass violence.” Harris sent intimidating and threatening emails to officers/employees at Montgomery College and the Montgomery County Police Department in which he expressed that he planned to “shoot up” Montgomery College. The college today implemented a Code Red for the college and closed all school locations.

Harris is described as a black male, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 110 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. If you come into contact with Harris or know where he is, please do not speak to him. Instead, contact the Takoma Park Police Department immediately at 301-270-1100.
