WATCH: Surveillance shows thieves ram an SUV into a luxury streetwear store in Buckhead

A new Buckhead business was forced to close up shop Tuesday after burglars broke into the storefront in their getaway car. Now Atlanta police are investigating the early morning incident.

Sharif Deshazor, owner of PriceTag ATL, told FOX 5 this is the third time they have been targeted in the last few months. Surveillance video captured the event in real time.

“It’s hard to recover from these back-to-back losses,” Deshazor said in an interview Wednesday.

Dreams of entrepreneurship led Deshazor to Atlanta, where he opened a store earlier this year.

“I moved here from New York with the goal of becoming an entrepreneur and taking advantage of the opportunities Atlanta has to offer,” Deshazor said.

He tells FOX 5 that dream felt more like a nightmare in the few months his luxury consignment store was in operation.

“Someone drove a truck through the store and basically just tried to vandalize the store and break in,” he said. “This is not what we imagined.”

Surveillance video from early Tuesday morning captured the moment thieves put their SUV in reverse and rammed it into the building before speeding away.

“It’s just very disheartening that we continue to deal with this in our community,” he told FOX 5.

Deshazor says it’s not the first time the store, which sells high-end streetwear and sneakers, has been hit.

The latest break-in occurred just a week after purchasing a new security system.

“This has happened twice in the last 30 days. The first time it was like a huge loss,” he remembers.

Deshazor says it will be difficult to get the business back up and running given the damage to the building and items stolen.

“It’s well over six-figure losses – simple,” he explained.

His message to other entrepreneurs is: Be vigilant.

He tells those in charge to think twice about taking from small black businesses.

“I just hope we can use this as a tool to unite as small businesses and just as a community,” he added.

It is currently unclear when the store will reopen. Deshazor says they are thinking about opening an online store in the meantime.

APD investigators have not said whether there is a connection between this case and other similar burglary incidents reported in recent weeks.
