‘Spy’ in Peloton reveals inside story on Tom Pidcock drama: ‘Pidcock is a bit of a loner at INEOS’

Sporza has reportedly uncovered growing tensions surrounding Tom Pidcock’s future at INEOS Grenadiers through a “spy” embedded in the peloton. The British rider set to leave the team has become the subject of much speculation, with insiders questioning his place in the squad.

According to the spy, Sporza reports that “the Tom Pidcock saga is also causing a stir in the peloton.” This drama appears to have been playing out over the last few months, with Pidcock’s role in key races becoming increasingly uncertain.

“In the Tour of Piedmont, Pidcock had to be substituted at the last minute, and in the Tour of Lombardy he was taken off the start list at the last minute. This is all bizarre,” the spy added. This inconsistency in his racing schedule has only fueled rumors of his deteriorating relationship with the team.

The spy revealed that Pidcock had taken a somewhat isolated stance within INEOS: “Pidcock is a bit of a loner at Ineos, with his own doctor and his own staff. He wants to do a bit of his own thing.” This independence has reportedly caused tensions with the team management, as Pidcock appears to operate outside the standard team framework.

A notable example of this tension arose when “the team did not want Pidcock to mountain bike in Canada at the end of last season. But he crossed the pond anyway.” The disregard for the team’s wishes appears to have deepened the rift, with the spy saying: “Since then, the rift between the two parties has only grown deeper.”

With Pidcock’s future hanging in the balance, the issue of his contract buyout has also become a hot topic. “But which team can put 12 million euros on the table? Because that is Pidcock’s transfer fee. Unless there is a back door in the contract,” the spy noted.

Despite the challenges, there is reportedly interest from other teams. “Q36.5 and Visma-Lease a Bike in particular would be interested in poaching him from INEOS. Pidcock at Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe seems less likely,” said the spy.

With tensions high and speculation increasing, Pidcock’s future remains uncertain. Whether he stays with INEOS or makes a high-profile move to another team, the cycling world is sure to keep a close eye on this ongoing drama.
