One dead after multi-vehicle crash in northwest Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – One person was killed in a multi-vehicle crash just after 9 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13, according to Metro Police.

LVMPD reported that the driver of a 2012 Kia Soul died on October 11th.

The collision occurred at the intersection of North Buffalo Drive and Smoke Ranch Road.

According to police, a 2007 Honda Pilot was traveling west on Smoke Ranch Road when it stopped at the red light on northbound Buffalo Drive. A 2016 Honda Accord traveling north on Buffalo stopped at the green light on Smoke Ranch Road. A 2021 Kia Soul was traveling north on Buffalo Drive and approached a flashing yellow traffic light arrow on Smoke Ranch Road.

As the Kia attempted to enter the left turn lane of the intersection, it collided with the Honda Accord, which pushed the Accord into the stopped Pilot.

Police identified Kristy Garay as the driver of the Honda Accord and Timothy Johnson as the driver of the Pilot.

Both the Kia and Honda Accord drivers were taken to the hospital.

According to police, all drivers showed no signs of impairment.

LVMPD confirms this is the 124th traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metro jurisdiction so far in 2024.

The crash is still under investigation.
