KPD informs about fatal knife attacks

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – On Tuesday afternoon, KTVO noted that the Kirksville Police SWAT team was searching a home in the 300 block of South Main Street in Kirksville.

The KPD released a statement on Wednesday with current information on the investigation into the murder of Dakota McClelland (16).

The case is still under investigation.

According to police, several search warrants were executed as part of the investigation.

The suspect, Shawn Michael Dukes, 21, of Kirksville, remains in police custody while receiving treatment at a medical facility.

Dukes was charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action.
