BREAKING: JD Vance says “no” when asked if Trump lost the 2020 election and that he definitely lost

In response to JD Vance repeating Donald Trump’s lies about the 2020 election, DNC Rapid Response Director Alex Floyd released the following statement:

“Donald Trump chose JD Vance as his running mate because he knew Vance would go along with his dangerous election denial and baseless attacks on our democracy no matter what. It’s pathetic — and voters are ready to remind Trump why he lost again in November 2020.”

NEW: JD Vance said Donald Trump didn’t lose the 2020 election “by words.” [Vance] would use.

Questioner: “What message do you think is being sent to independent voters by not directly answering the question of whether Donald Trump lost in 2020?”

JD Vance: “For the 2020 election I’ve answered this question directly a million times. No, I think there are serious problems in 2020, So did Donald Trump lose the election? Not in the words I would use […] I don’t give a damn whether you agree with me on this issue or not.”

NBC News: “On stage in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, Vance said he doesn’t believe Trump lost the 2020 election. Asked if Trump lost, he replied: “No.”

“This is the first time Vance has explicitly said ‘no’ when asked if the former president lost the 2020 election. He previously said he saw problems with the election, including at the vice presidential debate, where he said “I’m focused on the future” rather than answering if Trump were to lose.”

Just last week, Vance failed to tell the truth about Donald Trump’s 2020 loss FIVE times in a row – saying he hadn’t certified the results.

New York Times: “Vance has five chances to call Trump lost in 2020, but he doesn’t take any.”

“Heading into the final three weeks of the 2024 election, Sen. JD Vance of Ohio still won’t say whether his running mate won or lost the final race for the White House.

“In an interview with The New York Times published Saturday, Mr. Vance repeatedly refused to acknowledge the defeat of former President Donald J. Trump, going to even greater lengths to avoid doing so than he had previously during the Vice President debate had done this month…

“In response to her fifth question for a yes-or-no answer, Ms. Garcia-Navarro pointed out that there was ‘no evidence, legal or otherwise,’ of voter fraud.

“Mr. Vance dismissed it as a ‘slogan.’

During his 90-minute debate with Mr. Walz, Mr. Vance twice refused to answer a direct question about whether Mr. Trump lost the 2020 election. It was widely considered his weakest debate moment and may have turned off voters. In the CNN focus group of seven undecided Michigan voters who watched the debate, the only person who decided to vote after the event said she would support Vice President Kamala Harris, particularly because of Mr. Vance’s refusal to vote. to recognize the 2020 election results…

“In his Times interview, Mr. Vance said he would not have voted to certify the 2020 results.”

Vance previously falsely claimed in an unearthed video that Trump won the 2020 election.

Daily Beast: “Video shows JD Vance saying Trump won the 2020 election”

“JD Vance claimed in an unearthed clip from 2022 that Donald Trump won the 2020 election. The video … comes days after Vance refused to directly admit that Trump lost the race to Joe Biden during the CBS News vice presidential debate.”

In the debate with Governor Walz, Vance refused to admit that Trump lost the 2020 election, while glossing over January 6 and refusing to say whether he would challenge the election results in November.

NBC News: “’Damn non-response’: Vance refuses to acknowledge that Trump lost the 2020 election.”

“JD Vance refused to acknowledge that Donald Trump had lost the 2020 presidential election during the vice presidential debate on Tuesday and downplayed the severity of the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitolin which more than 140 police officers were injured. Him too declined to say whether he would seek to challenge the results of this year’s election.”

ABC News: “JD Vance refuses to say Trump lost in 2020, downplays events of January 6.”

Politico: “Vance refuses to admit Trump lost 2020 election”

“Vance omitted Trump’s attacks on his then-Vice President Mike Pence as a violent insurrection raged, as well as his months of false claims that the election was stolen and calls for his supporters to ‘stop the steal.’ … Vance has previously said in interviews that in 2020 he would have done what Pence refused: allow challenges to the election at the Jan. 6 session of Congress, despite constitutional and legal restrictions designed to prevent it.”

NBC News: “When asked whether he would challenge this year’s election results, Ohio Sen. JD Vance avoided a direct answer and instead defended Trump’s actions on Jan. 6, 2021.”

Vance is an extreme election denier with a habit of refusing to accept the election results from this November, saying he did not certify the 2020 election, and continuing to whitewash the violent insurrection of January 6th.

HuffContribution: “[Vance] said he would only accept a Biden victory if he believed the election was legitimate. … Vance’s comments illustrate a new tactic by Republican lawmakers who are now placing conditions on acceptance of election results.”

New York Times: “JD Vance Says He Would Accept Election Results With One Caveat”

Spectrum News: “Vance says again he would not have certified the 2020 election if he were vice president”

ABC News: JD Vance says [he] “would not have approved the 2020 race until states produced pro-Trump voters.”

New York Times: “[Vance] has said that unlike Vice President Mike Pence in 2020 he would have helped Mr. Trump overturn the resultsby accepting Trump voters who were not elected by the voters.”

Bloomberg: “[Vance] has claimed that the 2020 presidential race was stolen from Donald Trump.”

Vance: “I think the whole post-2020 thing would have gone a lot better if there had actually been an effort to provide alternative voter listsand to force us to have this debate. I think it would have been a much better thing for the country. … [Trump] attempted to bring a constitutional process to its natural conclusion.

“I think it would have been extraordinarily disappointing for a whole bunch of people that I care deeply about if Trump had just embraced it [and conceded the 2020 election before January 6].”

Vance: “No real Republican with credibility in the party is still blaming [Trump for January 6].”

The Hill: “JD Vance says he is ‘skeptical’ that Pence’s life was in danger on Jan. 6.”

Policy: “[Vance] downplayed the Jan. 6 insurrection at the Capitolwhen Pence was forced to evacuate the building as rioters demanded his hanging.”
