Richmond couple faces murder and criminal abuse charges after child’s death

RICHMOND, Ky. (WKYT) – A Richmond couple is facing multiple charges following the death of their 18-month-old child.

Robert Hawkins, 32, and Charlette Naputi, 27, were arrested by Richmond police on July 12.

According to their arrest records, officers were dispatched to an apartment on Gibson Lane in the early morning hours of July 12 to record a lifeless 18-month-old girl.

Officers arrived on scene and attempted life-saving measures, but were unsuccessful.

According to them, the apartment was in deplorable condition and officers found marijuana paraphernalia.

According to police, a three-year-old, a four-year-old and a seven-year-old also lived in the one-room apartment.

In September, a grand jury indicted Hawkins and Naputi on murder, possession of drug paraphernalia and multiple counts of first-degree criminal abuse.

They will be arraigned Thursday in Madison Circuit Court.
