Jury trial set for TJ Maxx shooting suspect

QUINCY (WGEM) – The man charged in connection with a shooting at the Quincy TJ Maxx in July will face a jury in December.

A jury trial for 21-year-old Alan C. Pacheco of Quincy was set for 8:30 a.m. Wednesday on Dec. 2. The preliminary hearing is scheduled for November 22nd at 9:00 a.m.

Pacheco will also hold status hearings on October 23 and November 13.

On July 6, police said they were dispatched to the mall at 2:28 p.m. where they found a 22-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds.

Pacheco was arrested that same afternoon after returning to the scene to give a statement to police.

Pacheco’s attorney, Ryan Schuenke, argued that the two men Pacheco shot were the attackers and that Pacheco acted in self-defense.

Schünke said that because of the circumstances, it was unfair that Pacheco was the only one behind bars.

Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Todd Eyler said the incident is under investigation and it is likely that charges will be filed against the other two men.
