Absentee voting for general elections is available in Cape Girardeau County

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) – The Cape Girardeau County Clerk/Local Board of Elections reminds voters that absentee voting is taking place in Cape Girardeau and Jackson.

According to the county clerk, absentee voting will take place from October 16th to November 4th from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Saturday, November 2nd from 8:00 a.m. to noon and Monday, November 4th from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m

In Cape Girardeau, absentee voting is available at Heritage Square Plaza, 2129 William Street. In Jackson, it is available at the County Administration Building 3rd Floor, 1 Barton Square.

From October 16th to 21st, voters must have a lawful reason to vote. This includes the following:

  • Absence from the district on election day
  • Incapacity or confinement due to illness or physical disability on election day, including a primary caregiver residing at the same address
  • Religious belief or practice
  • Official poll worker, first responder, healthcare worker, member of law enforcement
  • Imprisonment provided all voting rights are retained
  • Certified participation in the address confidentiality program due to security concerns

From October 22nd through November 4th, any registered voter with a photo ID can vote early in person. Examples of photo IDs include:

  • Unexpired Missouri driver’s license or Missouri non-driver’s license
  • Unexpired United States passport
  • Military ID that contains a photograph of the individual and is not expired or does not contain an expiration date
  • A document that meets all of the following requirements:
    • The document contains the name of the person to whom the document was issued and the name substantially matches the last signature on the voter register
    • The document shows a photo of the person
    • The document contains an expiration date and the document has not expired, or if it has expired, the document has expired after the date of the last general election (November 8, 2022).
    • The document was issued by the United States or the State of Missouri
