NHAI: Supreme Court demands NHAI accountability after cyclist’s tragic death |

Kochi: A HC Bank of Justice Devan Ramachandran has sought instructions from the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) about the death of Nikhil George, a young cyclist who fell into a pit he was digging NH66 Expansion work at Kodungallur in Thrissur on Saturday.
The court considered pleas relating to the deteriorating condition of roads in the state.
During the hearing, the court sarcastically remarked that the authorities appeared to be using “modern” technology to create pits on the roads, indicating negligence. The judges noted that no one, including district collectors, seemed to be concerned about such accidents. Previously, it was stated that traffic accidents of this kind are man-made disasters and the district administration can act accordingly. The judges also noted that in Kochi alone, hundreds of citizens had suffered minor accidents on city roads.
The bank published the petitions for the following week.
